About Joining the ASPS
Member Benefits
Thank you for considering joining the
greatest fraternity of boaters in the United
States. We're over 60,000 members strong in all
fifty states. The Atlanta squadron includes some
225 members, of which about 75 are active and
involved in our meetings and on-the-water
activities. We're about evenly split between power
boaters and sailors, with members with pontoon
boats, sailboats, bass boats, big
cruisers, live-aboard sailboats, and several members
with no boats at all. So, regardless of your
boating background or interest level, you'll
definitely fit in, and we'd love to have you. No
matter where you boat in the Atlanta area, we've got
members there, Lanier, Allatoona, West Point, or the
Atlantic or Gulf coasts. We'll be there with you.
The Atlanta Sail and Power Squadron has three main
purposes:
-
Boating Safety
through education
-
Friendship and
social events
-
Civic service
Perhaps the best way to get to know us is to take
our
public boating course
or to come to one of our
meetings.
The requirements for membership are simple:
-
Attend our Public
Boating class, called "Boat Smart".
-
Take and pass the
easy exam at the end of the class.
-
Fill out an
application.
-
Start coming to
our classes and events.
In
lieu of Boat Smart, several other basic boating
safety courses are accepted, e.g. American Sailing
Association "Basic Keelboat," and several
state-sponsored boating safety courses (not
Georgia's). The complete list is available by
clicking
here.
If you will complete the form below, our Membership
Chairman will be happy to give you a call and get
you started. We look forward to meeting you and
having you as an active member of our group.
